TableSTARS Program
Welcome to the STARS Program! Our volunteer STARS are a vital part of the TableStar Games team.
TableSTARS demonstrate our games at stores, gaming groups or conventions, help us at gaming events, and/or playtest our games-in-development.

STARS Awards Program
STARS earn points based on hours clocked while playtesting or demonstrating. They can spend the points to earn swag, including the following:
- TableStar Games T-Shirt
- TableStar Games Baby Doll T-Shirt
- Your choice of one TableStar Games Expansion
- Gift Certificates to a local game store (in $5 increments)
- Framed piece of game art
- Your choice of one TableStar Games game
- One full pass to a game convention of your choice (TableStar Games will not be providing travel, transportation, food or lodging)
Volunteer Duties
We’ve divided up the STARS duties into two parts, but STARS often participate in both roles.
DemoSTAR, TableStar Games, LLC
Volunteer Summary
The DemoSTAR demonstrates our games to potential customers. As part of this job, the DemoSTAR runs public demos at local game stores and/or game clubs and teaches the general gaming public about TableStar games. In addition, they may be called upon to go to local or major conventions to demonstrate games. DemoSTARS may be asked to go alone to conventions or be part of the official TableStar Games booth staff.
Essential Volunteer Functions
- Runs demos by welcoming volunteer players, setting up demos, and cleaning up after demos.
- Maintains a consistent schedule of demonstrations.
- Recruits additional volunteers for demonstrations or playtesting.
- Provides regular status reports on completed demonstrations.
- Maintains polite and courteous behavior with local game store employees and customers.
- Assists with setup and tear down of booth when appropriate.
- Promotes TableStar Games at game stores and/or conventions.
- Aids in attracting people to the booth when appropriate.
- Conducts tournaments and contests where appropriate.
- May be required to travel locally to administer demos or attend conventions.
- Performs various tasks as determined by the Volunteer Coordinator and TableStar Staff.
Requirements
- Must love games!
- Excellent knowledge of games and gaming. Multiple genre knowledge preferred.
- Excellent communication and people skills.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Experience running, demonstrating, or teaching games to others.
- Skilled at using Microsoft Office including Access and Excel.
- Schedule flexibility.
- Access to own transportation.
- Volunteers under the age of 18 years old must have written parental consent.
PlaySTAR, TableStar Games, LLC
Volunteer Summary
The PlaySTAR supervises board game tests for TableStar Games, LLC. As part of this job, the PlaySTAR would be responsible for recruiting game testers, testing games, and providing appropriate feedback to TableStar Games. The PlaySTAR receives the prototype either via snail mail, by email, or by ftp. In the latter two cases, the PlaySTAR may have to print and cut out the game components and create a mockup based on our specific instructions.
Essential Volunteer Functions
- Organizes other volunteers for playtest sessions.
- Maintains a consistent schedule of playtests.
- Serves as a contact between TableStar Games, LLC and play testers in the area.
- Runs game tests by inviting volunteer game testers, setting up tests, collecting data, and cleaning up after tests.
- Observes and records each test session.
- Sends in all records including sign-in sheets, feedback forms, and tester availability.
- May be required to travel locally to administer tests.
- Performs various tasks as determined by the STAR Coordinator.
Requirements
- Must love games!
- Excellent knowledge of games and gaming. Multiple genre knowledge preferred.
- Excellent communication and people skills.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Excellent observational and note taking skills.
- Able to provide detailed, yet concise playtest reports.
- Experience running, demonstrating, or teaching games to others.
- Skilled at using Microsoft Office, including Access and Excel.
- Able to open pdfs and has access to the internet via email or ftp sites.
- Access to a color printer.
- Schedule flexibility.
- Access to own transportation.
